Kevin Jonas is the oldest of the three brothers that comprise the superstar teen-pop band The Jonas Brothers, and the first and only of the famous brothers to marry. All three of the Jonas brothers are well known for the purity rings they wear to symbolize their decision to wait until marriage.
Born: Paul Kevin Jonas II was born on November 5, 1987 to Denise, a former sign language teacher and singer, and Paul Jonas, a songwriter, musician, and former ordained minister. He was born in Teaneck, New Jersey and grew up in Wyckoff.
Childhood: Kevin and his brothers grew up in an especially musical family in New Jersey. As a child, he talked nonstop. He was full of personality and full of life and was a happy and joyful kid. When asked to describe himself as a child, he said that he was super-hyper.
Age 11: Kevin was home sick one day from school. He was bored so he found a book called Teach Yourself to Play the Guitar. Using that book, he taught himself how to play. He actually faked being sick the next day so he could stay home and practice.
Age 13: At this age, he considers himself as a loner.
Age 17-18: Tours with Kelly Clarkson, Aly & AJ, and the Backstreet Boys.
Age 18: Daylight/Columbia Records decided to sign the Nick, Joe, and Kevin as a group act after listening to their song “Please Be Mine.” After being signed, the brothers considered naming their group “Sons of Jonas” before settling on the name “Jonas Brothers”. At this age, their debut album “It’s About Time” was released.
Age 19: He and his brothers were dropped by Columbia Records but were immediately signed with Hollywood records. Releases the album “Jonas Brothers.” It reached number five on the Billboard Hot 200 chart in its first week. Becomes guest-star together with his brothers in an episode of Hannah Montana entitled “Me and Mr. Jonas and Mr. Jonas and Mr. Jonas”. The episode broke basic cable records with a record 10.7 million viewers and became basic cable’s most watched series telecast ever. Meets his future wife, Danielle Deleasa, while on vacation with his family in The Bahamas.
Age 20: Releases third studio album, “A Little Bit Longer,” which peaked at #1 on the Billboard 200. Stars in Disney movie “Camp Rock.” Featured in Disney Channel reality series, “Jonas Brothers: Living the Dream.” Appears in “Hannah Montana and Miley Cyrus: The 3D Concert.” Donates 10% of his earnings to Change for the Children Foundation. Meets the then First Lady Laura Bush during an event in Dallas, Texas. Receives a several MTV Video Music Awards nominations, taking home the Best Pop Artist award from Los Premios MTV. Wins five awards from Teen Choice Awards 2008 including Choice Red Carpet Fashion Icon Male, Choice Male Hottie, and Choice Love Song. A 2008 Blimp Award for Favorite Music Group category was also given by Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards.
Age 21: Releases fourth studio album entitled “Lines, Vines, and Trying Times” which also peaks at number 1 on the Billboard 200 with 247,000 copies sold. Films “Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam.” Appears on People magazine’s list of the Sexiest Men Alive and in “Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience”, a concert film of the 2008 Jonas Brothers “Burning Up” concert tour. Depicted as a marble cherub playing the harp in “Night at the Museum 2: Battle for the Smithsonian.” Asks his girlfriend Danielle Deleasa to marry him. He proposed on a surprise visit to her house in New Jersey, showing up at six in the morning. Nominated for Best New Artist in 51st Grammy Awards and International Video of the Year (group category) for “Lovebug” in MuchMusic Video Awards. Receives honor as ‘T-Mobile Breakthrough Artist’ from 2008 American Music Award, Best Pop Artist – International award from Los Premios MTV for the second time, Blimp Award for Favorite Music Group category from Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards and Choice Summer Song for “Before the Storm” and Choice Red Carpet Icon – Male both from Teen Choice Award.
Age 22: Marries Danielle Deleasa, a former hairdresser, at Oheka Castle with his brothers Joe Jonas and Nick Jonas as his best men. Appears on season 1 episode 4 of MTV’s When I Was 17. Wins the 2010 Do Something! Award in the music artist category for his and his brothers’ effort in several different causes. Receives nomination from 2005 MTV Europe Music Awards for Best Group category. Wins International Video of the Year (group category) for “Paranoid” in MuchMusic Video Awards and Choice TV Actor: Comedy for J.O.N.A.S in 2010 Teen Choice Award.
Age 22 – 24: Engages in various other charity works such as hitting up Minute to Win It, unveiling of Ronald McDonald House’s AOL Media Room, and hosting the The Give Back Hollywood Foundation’s X-Box Miracle of Music Benefit in honor of the 2011 American Music Awards.
